The Wycombe Swan Town Hall Studio Theatre will play host to Oscar Wilde's The Importance of Being Earnest at the end of June. After the success of Pygmalion last year, the company is raring to go with this "trivial comedy for serious people".

Jack Worthing goes by the name Ernest whilst up in London. He wins the affections of Gwendoyn but she declares that her love for him is chiefly for his name - Ernest. All would be well were it not for the fact that Jack has invented a brother, whom he has called Ernest and to whom he makes frequent visits, to explain his absences from his country home, where he lives with his ward, Cicely. To further complicate matters his ward has decided to marry the non-existent brother.

Jack's friend, Algernon, decides to visit the Worthing country home, and presents himself as Ernest. He falls for Cicely's charms and his smitten proposal is readily accepted. All would be well were it not for the fact that Gwendolyn decides to drop in on her fiancé's country home - expecting to find her Ernest . . .

Will all be happily resolved?

Tight Fit Theatre invites you to discover the truth.
