Blue Remembered Hills Blue Remembered Hills February, 2007

It is the Summer of 1943 and the adult world is a mystery to the children of the West Country. The end of the war is two years off but for these seven-year-olds it may as well be a lifetime away. Blue Remembered Hills is Dennis Potter’s acclaimed story of lost innocence. The hills and woodland of rural England are the children’s playground. Childhood loyalty and friendship are explored with all the laughter and cruelty of which children are capable until a single tragic event brings their idyll crashing to the earth. From that moment everything changes . . . forever . . .

The Wycombe Swan's resident theatre company presents Dennis Potter's extraordinarily moving play at the Wycombe Swan Town Hall Studio prior to a London run. Seven children are played by seven adults—as specified by the author—in an evening which will re-awaken the child in each of us.

The Importance of Being Earnest31 May - 2 June 2007: The Importance of Being Earnest

Oscar Wilde's comedy masterpiece comes to the Wycombe Swan via their resident company Tight Fit Theatre.

Jack and Algernon take on the name Ernest in order to win the hearts of their respective loves, Gwendolen and Cecily, two young ladies who are sure they could only love men called Ernest. When they all arrive at Jack's country home, we have two men who claim to be “Ernest”, and two girls in love with men named “Ernest” who aren't earnest.

Confused?

All will be answered in this delightful, witty production directed by Mark Oldknow.

Cinderella 22 - 24 December 2006: Cinderella

Many thanks to everyone who came to see Cinderella and a particular thanks to everyone involved who gave up their time for free. The show appears to have made a small profit which will go some way to offset the losses made in previous years so thanks again to everyone. Next year's panto will be Aladdin which—by popular demand—will see Mark Oldknow in his rightful place in a frock as Widow Twanky. The show will be written by Mark Oldknow and directed by Sam Webb. Watch this space!
