Do you unknowingly send us Spam and Viruses?

Welcome again to this, our tenth anniversary season. Our new look at Macbeth begins in three short weeks. I urge you to book now to avoid disappointment; this may be your final reminder. It is pleasing to know that our past shakespearian productions have received unsolicited letters from students saying things like "without seeing your production I would never have passed my GCSE". So, if you are reading this and are studying the play, or know someone who is, or you simply want a great evening's entertainment, book now. Discounts are available from the Swan box office (01494 512000) for larger parties. The matinee on Thursday has been arranged particularly with schools in mind and will include a post-show Q&A with the cast and director.

For Christmas this year we return to the silly boy who sells the family livestock for a few 'magic' beans. It sounds like an OPEC deal and probably is, but children of all ages will enjoy the fun. If you haven't been to one of our Community Pantomimes, why not? It is good clean fun brought to you by the best amateur and 'resting' professional actors from the local area.

We are now able to announce Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë in a new adaptation by our very own Carla Quelch to be performed at the Swan Town Hall in March of next year. This promises to be a very exciting project as the book has, perhaps surprisingly, very few stage adaptations.

Another announcement is the Official launch of our Murder Mysteries. We have been performing versions of An Act of Murder for some time, helping schools and others raise much needed funds for their organisations. More recently we have developed The Nineteenth Hell following requests for something more specific from golf clubs. Whether your organisation wants a fun fund raiser or just a fun evening, please get in touch.

Does your computer send us Spam and Viruses without you knowing? Is your machine slow? If your system isn't up-to-date it may be as good as useless so read the tips here to make yours and your friends lives easier.

Tim Hill, September 2005.

Cometh the hour cometh the man - a hero who will murder his way to the top spurred on by his young wife, her veins coursing with an unhealthy lust for power, and led onto his path by three witches with their own agenda. Mark Oldknow directs this powerful and bloody play creating an evening which is bound to thrill. The Wycombe Swan's resident company remains committed to producing visually dynamic work with an emphasis on textual clarity.

www.invalid.org.uk

for many years

Tight Fit Theatre

has been receiving

Spam and Viruses

For many months, if not years, we continue to receive spam and viruses (intended for Windows PCs). Fortunately our machines are immune from such attacks and these days most are caught by our ISP anyway. Many of these unwanted messages are sent by robot programs which others have unknowingly installed or they have received the infection by email from someone else's damaged computer. You may not be aware that with Windows it is possible for viruses to arrive by email and install themselves without your knowledge. They then hide in the background attempting to replicate themselves by sending copies of themselves to any email address they find on your machine. While doing this they fiddle the emails in such a way that the exact source is difficult to establish. However, we realise that our address does reside on your machine (e.g., it's in the header of email) so your machine could be one source. Perhaps it is some time some time since you have updated your anti-virus software, or avoid its cost and hope for the best! Good, free, anti-virus software is available for download from free.grisoft.com or look for their program AVG Free on magazine cover discs.

Viruses hide away but use up your machine's processing power. Another 'infection' which slows your machine down is spyware. These are small programs which hide away and monitor what you do. These can be removed using a number of free programs including Ad-Aware SE Personal.
